The Swiss watchmaker Zenith was founded in 1865 in Le Locle by the young watchmaker Georges Favre-Jacot, who was one of the first to consolidate all stages of watchmaking under a single roof. This revolutionized the industry, laying the foundations for the modern manufacture model, which many brands still follow today.
The company didn’t immediately adopt its name: only several years later, inspired by an astronomical term meaning the highest point in the sky, Favre-Jacot gave his brainchild the name Zenith — a symbol of his pursuit of perfection and technical excellence.
The Swiss watchmaker Zenith has earned worldwide recognition for its contributions to the development of precision mechanics. The brand is particularly renowned for its El Primero caliber, introduced in 1969. This was the first automatic chronograph in history capable of operating at a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour. Even decades later, this movement is considered one of the most precise and outstanding in watchmaking, and it continues to be produced in modernized forms.
Since its inception, Zenith has been committed to technical excellence and constant innovation. The brand not only introduces advanced materials and complex mechanisms but also carefully preserves its historical heritage, regularly reviving legendary models of the past and adapting them to modern requirements.
